  • Delete objects
    • Outliner
    • Hotkey: x
      • or Delete
    • In viewport
      • Delete key
      • Hotkey: x
        • Must confirm
  • Add objects
    • 3D Viewport Menu
      • Add -> Mesh -> Monkey
      • Add -> Mesh -> Plane
    • Hotkey: Shift + a

 

Materials

  • Object selected, go to material and add one.

 

Viewport shading: Solid

  • Viewport Shading

    • Solid

      • Default
    • Wireframe

      • Turns on x-ray automatically
    • Material Preview

    • Rendered

    • Hotkey: z

      • Must have mouse in 3D Viewport
      • Move mouse to section or press hotkey
        • Wireframe Hotkey: 4
        • Rendering Hotkey: 8
        • Solid Hotkey: 6
        • Material Preview Hotkey: 2
  • Solid method is simple lighting and solid colors

    • Computationally light
    • In color, the default is material which will display to the color of that is configured in the material.
      • Random is good to show different objects in different colors. You can identify each object separetely.
  • Click the twirl down to see more options

    • Lighting
      • Studio
        • Basic studio lighting
        • Click on the sphere to different lighting
      • MatCap
        • Material capture material similar to Zbrush. It uses a projection method.
        • These do not render
      • Flat
        • Solid color not affected by lighting or shading
        • It has a 2D toon look.
  • Background section

    • Theme
      • Respects the Blender theme
    • World
      • Respects the world background color
    • Viewport
      • Locally customized for the current viewport only.
  • Can turn on Shadows

    • It is basic and not the same as the render
      • IT DOES NOT MATCH THE LIGHT IN THE SCENE
    • Can add the shadow intensity and orientation.
  • Can turn on x-ray

    • There is a button for it
    • Can adjust the intensity
  • Wireframe

    • Turns on x-ray automatically
    • Can turn off x-ray while in wireframe to prevent seeing the back of object
  • Render

    • See the same result of the the final rendered image.
    • Displays all the lights and materials set in the scene.
    • More computationally expensive
  • Material Preview

    • Lights in scene are not affected by default.
    • Uses HDR ball presets
    • Can turn on lights and scene world.
    • Can visualize without creating lights for the scene.
